3 YEARS!!!
I was going to wait until tonight, and I’ll post pictures later, but I just couldn’t wait! I’m in tears right now, even though I’ve known today was coming! Murphy’s surgery was 3 years ago today! I still can’t believe it. This stubborn, feisty, sweet boy became a Tripawd 3 years ago today.
I’m not as good as Michelle, Karen, Renee, Sally or some of the others at putting things into words. I tend to keep things short. I’m really not a blogger! It took me almost this whole time just to get started writing one. That is a whole other subject! lol
I’ve seen so many people come here and so many have left. Each one has touched me. I cry at each loss, whether I remember their story or not, because I know one day it will be mine, too. I don’t know how we’ve gotten so lucky. We didn’t do any special supplements, just grain-free food, but Murphy cheats! He steals food from Cassie & Max’s bowl (we normally free-feed, so their bowl just always has food in it) and he knows he’s supposed to eat his own food, but he’s so funny about it, and sometimes I just feel like, so what? He can eat anything he wants!
Next weekend Murphy & I are walking in a Bark for Life for the American Cancer Society. We accidentally signed up for the walk about 6 months ago, thinking that the walk was then, but they changed the date. I was so worried, because I thought, wow, 6 months? ugh, that’s a long time away! It’s hard to know if Murphy will be able to make it. But here it is, and he’s just as great as ever!
The weekend after that is when we’re going out to MSU for their Celebration of Life ceremony. I was able to get someone to work for me, so we’re able to go. 🙂 I love a chance to show off our Tripawd Warrior!
Thank you to every one of you for all of your support, cheers, tears, hugs that have helped along our journey so far! The crew is getting home made venison burgers tonight!
Love you guys!
Donna
Here’s some pictures from tonight. Murphy got a couple of home made venison hamburgers and ice cream with whipped cream on top 🙂

Murphy’s banner is beautiful btw! And I love his happy smile photo of him just chilling. He’s such a handsome and happy boy!
We need to have Murphy highlighted in one of the special blogs that
RENE does. HINT!
You “free food” and each dog stays out of the others bowls??? Are you kidding me? Even if Murphy cheats every now and then, that’s still amazing!

Thank you Sally! I’ll have to upload a picture, but yes, we have 1 food bowl for the dogs, 1 water bowl for everyone (3 dogs & 3 cats) & the cat’s food is in the spare bedroom raised up so the dogs stay out of it. The dogs always have access to the food, they tend to nibble a couple times a day, a little bit at a time. Sometimes more than one dog wants to eat at the same time, so they take a mouth full, turn away, drop it on the floor then eat it. lol They’ve never fought over it. We only started feeding Murphy separately after his diagnosis and we changed him to the grain-free food.

Awww Murphy! Congratulations on such a milestone! You are such an inspiration to those hopping this journey in your paw prints!
Donna- I hope you never feel awkward or guilty about posting Murphy’s success. I never felt guilty that Maggie was lucky enough to beat the odds, I felt a bit of a responsibility to tell her story to encourage others to stay positive and give their pups a chance.
Murphy- this is such a happy day that I am going to overlook the fact that your mom basically called a bunch of us blabber-mouths… : )
Can’t wait for more pictures!!!!

Thanks Karen! And, no, you all are not blabber-mouths! I literally laughed out loud when I read that!!! I just wish I could speak as well as some of you do 🙂

Okay, I know tavlets are whacky, but the pictures of Murphy celebrating with his ice cream topped with whip cream nd his venison didn’t show up until just now! He is in pire bliss!!!
Look at that focus!! I love his wide eyed excitement look as he focuses on his treats 🙂 This boy is having a great day! YAY!
And then we have that BEAUTIFUL “portrait” of Murphy sitting so proud, so regal, so content. This is a real treasure! I love how the light co es down through the tip of the picture and gently surrou ds his head. So lovely

You have to take the time to make sure you make the right decision for you and your furbaby. It’s been awhile, but I still remember how I felt like the floor had dropped out from underneath me when the doctor said cancer. That wasn’t even on my radar! I did tons of research, too. Have you looked at Jerry’s required reading list? I also did a lot of reading in the forums. Don’t be afraid to post a question or your story there. 🙂 Donna
