Getting ready for the PuppyUp! walk in September

We just can’t wait to be able to meet so many people that we’ve gotten to know on here!  When we first started our journey into cancer with Murphy, there was someone who reached out to me through Facebook on the Dogs With Cancer page.  She was making a board for a Bark For Life walk and wanted stories and pictures to share with other walkers, so of course I sent her Murphy’s story.  The next year she asked if I could send her and update to his story and more pictures.  She’s always been a huge fan of Murphy’s and loves to see his updates.  When I was looking at our route to Wheaton, I realized that we would be driving right through her town!  So of course I had to let her know and we’re going to be meeting up with her probably on our drive there.

We have our reservation at a pet-friendly hotel that’s just minutes from where the walk will be.  And plans are being made for a Friday evening get-together someplace.

We’ve received our t-shirts with Murphy’s pictures on them.  It took me forever to decide on just the right picture lol.

Canine flu is not an issue here in Michigan, but it is in Illinois, so I had decided that I would get Murphy a flu shot.  I didn’t know how hard that would be, though.  I started with our vet, but they didn’t carry it.  Then I called an office that they thought might have it, but no luck there either.  My third phone call was to Banfield, since they’re a chain vet hospital, I thought that maybe they would carry it, but no such luck.  I figured that I could spend all day calling vets offices, so instead I called Merck directly.  They said they could help my by zip code.  The first two offices they told me were my own and Banfield.  The third was nearby and as luck would have it, they carry the vaccine!  yeah!  So Murphy went today to get his first flu shot.  He will have to go back in 2 weeks for a booster.  Dr. Harris was super nice and went to school with Dr. Swanson, our oncologist!  She really was impressed with Murphy’s story

I can not wait to see you & Murphy. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone too. 🙂 Before you know it the walk will be here. I think it is very smart to get him vacinated for the flu. I would if I were bringing a healthy dog too.

Me too! So looking forward to meeting all of you. My t shirt came on Sat. My picture of Max on the front is somewhat larger because me being computer stupid had no idea on how to size it at all. But it works just covers more area. 😀 Very proactive Donna getting Murphy the flu shot. Wonderful you’re getting to meet up with a friend on the way down too. This is going to be awesome!

Murphy, you sure know how to make a tee shirt look really, really good! I especially like the one on black…really shows you off!

Dogs are so cute at the vet when they just stare and sniff the door waiting to go back out of it!

This pawty is going to be SPECTACULAR! And it’s terrific that you’ll make a connection with the woman from Facebook. She is going to be so impressed when she meets our superstar Murphy in lerson…And his mom!! 🙂

We want rins and tons of pictures and the tee shirt pictures too!

Linda, I woukd have no idea how to “size” a picture either. But the more of Max covering a tee shirt, the more you’re wrapped in his love!

I mentioned this to Michelle and you probably already thought of it. For those who have pups at the Bridge, bring their pictures with you. They’ll be right by your side pawtying!

You have no idea how special this will be getting together with everyone. As alison can attest, you will jave warm fuzzies in your heart forever!

    Lots of love!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
